The concert of Button accordionist Nikolai Sivchuk entitled “Irresistible Charm of Bayan” is a musical event in which he demonstrates his virtuoso skills and deep understanding of music. Nikolai Sivchuk is a famous Russian accordionist who is famous not only for his technical perfection of playing the button accordion\, but also for his extraordinary ability to create an emotional atmosphere through music. In the concert “Irresistable Charm of Bayan” the musician performs both classical and modern works\, showing all the possibilities of the button accordion – from exquisite melodies to powerful\, energetic passages. In such concerts\, special attention is paid to the nuances of the instrument’s sound\, the subtlety of interpretation of the works\, as well as interaction with the audience. Sivchuk’s music\, thanks to his skill\, can be both heartfelt and lyrical\, and bright and rhythmic\, creating a whole palette of emotions in the audience.

SUMMARY:Shell Piano Trio
DESCRIPTION:Formed in 1996 in Yerevan\, Armenia\, the Shell Piano Trio brought together pianist Shushan Hakobyan\, violinist Lilit Zakaryan\, and cellist Katya Janpoladyan to create a remarkable musical unit. Their synergy quickly propelled them to international acclaim. In just a few years after forming the group\, they were touring Europe. They appeared in concerts throughout Armenia and the US\, showcasing their technical virtuosity\, musical excellence and stylistic versatility. \nShushana Hakobyan\, piano | Lilit Zakaryan\, violin | Katya Janpoladyan\, cello \nwith special guest Mariné Chahinian\, soprano \nThis concert is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Buchenwald concentration camp and the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.  This program features a mix of profoundly emotional yet uplifting compositions by N. Piovani\, \nJ. Williams\, A. Babajanyan\, and A. Khachaturian. Additionally\, we are excited to present the world premiere of a composition by  Professor Deon Nielsen Price\, which is based on an original Armenian tune from Artsakh\, as a central piece of the program.

SUMMARY:Mendelssohn’s Octet
DESCRIPTION:Four violins\, two violas\, and two cellos unite for arguably one of the greatest pieces of chamber music ever written. The Octet\, completed when Mendelssohn was just 16 years old\, zips and swirls with virtuosic intensity—particularly in its famous Scherzo\, inspired by the great German classic Faust by Goethe. “It’s not just its verve but its voice that is so remarkable. The depth of feeling\, the humanity\, the craftsmanship\, the sheer giving of pleasure are all pure Mendelssohn\, already there” (Los Angeles Times). \nIn the first half of the night\, LA Phil musicians guide us through an intimate journey from Armenia to Denmark. Arutiunian’s Armenian pride shines through in his trio suite. Its melodies meander through scenes of tension and gloom in the first half\, and as the piece progresses\, the musicians show off the colorful dance rhythms commonly heard in Armenian folk music. \nNielsen\, a country boy born into a peasant family\, channels the rustic spirit of his Danish upbringing in the G-minor string quartet. Including new work by Ken Ueno\, Christian Carey\, Arlene Sierra\, Everette Minchew\, José-Luis Hurtado\, David Smooke\, Jason Eckardt\, Lou Bunk\, and Stephen Gorbos\, Richman drastically expands the repertoire for singing violist with this varied program. \nDuring the pandemic\, Alexander Elliott Miller wrote an album of music for electric guitar and synthesizers\, rock influenced instrumental works describing experiences of quarantine\, loss\, the adrenaline rush of getting into running and forward looking hopefulness.
